on a saturday evening, me and my sister were making our way home from work,
we were driving along a path that we passed by millions of times, a road that was once foreign that has now become so familiar
suddenly out of no where, on the right, a motorcyclist made a sharp left turn right in from of our car without warning
no signal lights, nothing
he was an old malay man and he had no helmet on,
yi was driving and she panicked as she didn’t have enough time to break and hit the old man
the impact shattered the glass and for a second we both showered in glass pieces
the man was bleeding from his head since he didn’t have a helmet on in the first place
so i did what i was supposed to, i told panicky yi to snap some photos of what happened
while i tried to call an ambulance
i dialed 999 on my phone and to my dismay, there was ringing but no answer
the old malay man was sent home to gather his stuff and he was rushed to the hospital by other bystanders
at least that was what i’d like to believe happened
next i called my neighbor and dad while trying to calm yi down
according to her, i was very calm when all this happened
i guess i played the adult role while waiting for the actual adults to arrive
when they arrived i freaked and i believe i went into an instant panic
and willingly let them take over
so we went and gather our papers and launched a report
i knew i wasn’t going to see hear touch my car for a while
while we claimed the repairs from the insurance agency
the repairs were done in peak lik wong (buntong)
the delightful surprise was when we found out the person on the case was our high school classmate
small world
this was the damage from the accident
i got to admit, i think i am to an extend a materialistic person
so seeing my car in this condition, i wasn’t as heartbreaking as worried
i was worrid about the cost of it all, true the insurance claim was being done
but what about the costs that the insurance doesn't cover??
this is my car being prepped for a paint job, filled with clay
while the car repairs were underway, i tried to calm myself and looked forward to seeing flowers at the office garden patch
and playing with a stray dog that i’ve gotten used to petting <3
and after nearly a whole month of being car-less
i got my car back and i love it, and i missed it
sidenote: went to old town for lunch today, got fried ice cream after that and saw some amazing sites
loving ipoh more and more
and finally got to eat egg custard again after so long, love that the most
yummiest thing i know since a little girl
this is the ceiling of the fried ice cream shop
and just across is the clock tower in the food court
i guess that's why i love ipoh, has its charm of its own
xoxo
